travnikArcheological Excavations that took place near the ancient site of Đelilovac in Turbet near Travnik are coming to an end. The excavations were carried out as part of TEMPUS project, and implemented by the Museum of Travnik in cooperation with the Department of Archeology at the Philosophy Faculty in Sarajevo.

Archeologist of the museum in Travnik Ajla Sejfuli told Fena the excavations lasted for one month and led to excellent results that shed new light and provide clearer information on Travnik during ancient times.

‘’Rare artifacts have been found, and together with other discoveries in this area indicate the significance of the village. The unveiled surface indicates the existence of settlements whose objects have been used for a long time, which is evident in the different stages in which the walls were built’’, said Sefjuli.

She said that one of the most interesting findings is a bronze plaque depicting the cult of the Danube horseman, which is the sixth of its kind in B&H, but the first one made of bronze.

Mayor of Travnik Admir Hadžiemrić expressed his satisfaction with the results of the findings and promised the support of municipality Travnik for the research that is expected to be carried out next year.
