Armin Berberovic, who two nights ago caused an accident in Marijin Dvor in Sarajevo, hitting three pedestrians with his car, in which one girl passed away and one is currently in critical condition, was driving without a driver’s license, for which he was previously fined.

It is known that in the past, Berberovic was issued several misdemeanor warrants for driving a car without passing a driving test, and he is known to the Sarajevo police for such violations. No criminal charges have been filed against him.

The accident happened on Friday at 11:30 pm in Marshal Tito Street, and the driver Berberovic (born in 1996) had 0.41 promille of alcohol in his blood and was driving faster than the limit when he hit the three girls. During the collision, he did not stop immediately, but hit a traffic sign and then a wall.

A young doctor from Sarajevo, Azra Spahic (born in 1998), an employee of the Health Center of Canton Sarajevo (CS), was killed. Two more girls, who were with her at the time of the accident, were injured, of whom S.A. (1997) received life-threatening injuries, and S.E. (2002) received serious physical injuries.

After the investigation, Berberovic was arrested and criminal proceedings are being carried out against him. He will be handed over to the cantonal prosecutor’s office within the legal term.

However, after the tragedy, the same question arises again – how do people without a driver’s license drive motor vehicles, while they are already known for such actions? In addition, many points out that the city center is insufficiently secured for pedestrians, stating that there are no security cameras, radars, or speed bumps, Klix.ba reports.
