Bijeljina_poplaveAccording to the preliminary assessments, in the area of Bijeljina are flooded around 30.000 hectares of agricultural land, 26.500 of which have been flooded directly and 4.500 from the underground water.

The Mayor Mićo Mićić said in a statement to reporters that so far 6 houses are reported which have been completely destroyed due to the floods and the estimations is that 30 houses are destroyed in the city, where families are not able to return.

He considers that the donor help will be necessary for construction of new houses for the affected population and  he stressed the UN aid in providing prefabricated houses is one way to help.

The water is deep up to a half a meter in the flooded villages along Sava and houses in this part of Semberija are still not reachable. This area is declared a zone of risk of infectious diseases.

A major part of dead livestock are removed in the flooded areas along Sava, but the epidemiological situation is still risky.

The list of flooded facilities is being carried out by 10 teams consisting of 30 members.

The water level of Sava in Rača this morning was 681 cm, which is 3 meters lower than the highest water level during floods.
