Boban-Stojanovi?Tomorrow at 18:00 in Art Kino Kriterion, a press conference and award will take place, which is part of a project being realized as part of USAID’s program of strengthening independent media in B&H and implemented by Internews in B&H. The guest will be Boban Stojanović, a gay activist from Serbia, who will speak on specific guidelines for professional reporting on LGBT topics, and will summarize the previous eight info sessions that was aimed at providing basic information regarding the rights and culture of LGBT people.

As part of the press conference, awards and accolades will be given out for continuous, professional and ethical reporting of journalists and media on LGBT topics in 2013. The prize will be given to one media that continuously reported on LGBT topics in 2013, and editors of one magazine for a clear editorial policy when it comes to writing on socially relevant problems and issues tied to LGBT people. A third prize will be given to a TV channel for commitment to LGBT topics introduced in the public space.

After handing out awards, there will be a promotion of an autobiography by Boban Stojanović ‘Kao da je sve u redu’ (as if everything is fine), where he describes why it is difficult to be openly gay in Serbia, the problems an individual faces in relation to society, and why some families are willing to reject rather than accept their child in order to conform to the demands of their environment.
