Members of the National Assembly elected the new Government of Serbia on Wednesday, headed by Prime Minister Djuro Macut.
The members voted by public roll-call, and 153 out of 199 present delegates voted for the new Government of Serbia. Forty-six were against, and 51 delegates were absent.
The government will include First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs Ivica Dacic, as well as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarovic.
Dragan Glamocic was elected Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management; Sara Pavkov as Minister of Environmental Protection; Aleksandra Sofronijevic as Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure; and Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic as Minister of Mining and Energy.
The new Minister of Domestic and Foreign Trade will be Jagoda Lazarevic, Minister of Justice Nenad Vujic, Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Snezana Paunovic, and Minister for Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue will be Demo Berisa.
Bratislav Gasic was elected Minister of Defense, Marko Djuric remains Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Nemanja Starovic was elected Minister for European Integration.
The new Minister of Education is Dejan Vuk Stankovic, Zlatibor Loncar remains Minister of Health in this mandate as well, and Milica Djurdjevic Stamenkovski was elected Minister for Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs.
Jelena Zaric Kovacevic was elected Minister for Family Care and Demography, Zoran Gajic is Minister of Sports, Nikola Selakovic Minister of Culture, and Milan Krkobabic Minister of Rural Welfare.
Academician Bela Balint was elected Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation; Husein Memic Minister of Tourism and Youth; and Boris Bratina Minister of Information and Telecommunications, while Darko Glisic will remain Minister for Public Investments.
Novica Toncev, Djordje Milicevic, Usame Zukorlic, Nenad Popovic, and Tatjana Macura were elected as ministers without portfolio.
The new Government of Serbia was supported by delegates of the ruling coalition from the list “Aleksandar Vucic – Serbia Must Not Stop”, the Socialist Party of Serbia, United Serbia, PUPS, the Social Democratic Party of Serbia, and the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians, while opposition party delegates who attended the session voted against.
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic congratulated on the election of the government, stating that the new government must ensure “that a legal order reigns in Serbia and that people can be proud of their country in every sense.”
Delegates of the National Democratic Alternative coalition and the Democratic Party did not attend the Assembly session.
