The Gaza Civil Defense Agency announced that dozens of people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a school shelter in Gaza City.
The Israeli military said it had struck the site, describing its target as a Hamas command center located in the school, the BBC reported.
According to the Gaza Civil Protection Agency, at least 90 people were killed and dozens more injured in the attack in Daraj district.
“The death toll is now between 90 and 100, and there are dozens more wounded,” agency spokesman Mahmoud Basal told AFP.
“Three Israeli rockets hit a school where displaced Palestinians were housed,” he said.
Earlier in a post online, Telegram described the scene as a “terrible massacre” and said crews were trying to control the fire to rescue the wounded and retrieve the bodies.
