pyramidsExcavation of the Bosnian pyramids in Visoko officially started on this day in 2006, which were visited by tourists from all around the world .

Only in the first year, the number of tourists who came to Visoko exceeded 200,000 and it brought a multimillion profits to the country in a very short period of time. Although many local experts denied the existence of the Bosnian pyramids, Archaeological Park in Visoko became worldwide famous.

“Within several years, the number of tourists who came to Visoko dropped to only 10,000 per year. But, thanks to the hard work, we managed to attract their trust again. We had between 30,000 and 40,000 tourists in 2014,” said Dr. Semir Osmanagic.

He added that between 400 and 500 volunteers from 40 or 50 countries, from 6 continents, work every year at the pyramids in Visoko, which is also unheard of in the history of archaeological research in the world.

If the authorities at all levels in BiH, said Dr. Osmanagic, stood behind this project from the beginning of the excavation, today pyramids would have half a million tourists visiting the pyramids in Visoko. And hundreds of thousands of tourists per year would mean new millions of BAM for the domestic economy.

Bosnian pyramids in Visoko are currently the most active archaeological site in the world.
