Automatic Transmissions are produced for the Entire European Auto Industry in This BiH City

Mayor Efendic visited “Selzer” and “Veritas” factories; all automatic transmissions have key components made in Rajlovac.

Two days ago, Semir Efendic, the Mayor of Novi Grad Sarajevo, visited with his team the “Selzer Group” and “Veritas Automotive” factories in the Rajlovac industrial zone, which produce parts for the auto industry.

In the Rajlovac production facilities, where auto parts are manufactured for renowned German and French car brands including BMW, Volkswagen, Mercedes, Audi, Skoda, Renault, Peugeot, Citroen, and Fiat, as well as the American Tesla, approximately 1.000 young people, with an average age of 35, are employed.

The factories in Rajlovac produce 1.2 million key components for automatic DSG transmissions each year, serving the German and French auto industries.

Mayor Efendic noted that the existence and operations of “Selzer” d.o.o. in the Novi Grad municipality are a point of pride not only for Novi Grad but also for Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).

“The factory construction began in 2017 and proceeded through three phases, and today it covers approximately 28.000 square meters of production space. In just six years, an industry has developed here that can serve as a model and pride for Novi Grad and BiH. Interestingly, automatic transmissions for almost the entire European auto industry are produced here. All French car models have transmissions made in Rajlovac. Additionally, a large number of German cars also receive transmissions manufactured in Rajlovac. The production also covers other locations, but for French models, all new transmissions are produced in Rajlovac. Approximately 1.2 million transmissions are produced annually at this factory. These are truly impressive figures. Besides the European auto industry, auto parts for Tesla vehicles are also produced in the Novi Grad municipality,” said Mayor Semir Efendic.

In Rajlovac, parts for about 3.6 million Tesla cars are produced annually.

Each year, 3.6 million components for as many hybrid Tesla cars are produced in Rajlovac. The “Selzer” factory expects exports of around 60 million BAM this year, with production already contracted for the next year valued at approximately 100 million BAM. The plan is for this to reach 100 million euros by 2027.

“This is an example that BiH can indeed be significant on the world map, producing such a large number of complex, sophisticated, and modern auto industry products. This is something the public should be aware of, and I believe they haven’t had enough information,” said Mayor Efendic.
