Sarajevo’s old-town core and Baščaršija will be an open studio from October 7-14, where artists, 26 of them from nine countries, will paint ‘’Austro-Hungarian Period of Sarajevo’’.
It is a second International Art Colony which is organized by Gallery “Preporod” in the capital city of BiH.
Painter and manager of the Gallery “Preporod”, who is also an author of the Colony project in Sarajevo Mirsada Baljić told FENA that the artists from nine countries will paint, each in their own way ‘’Austro-Hungarian period of the city on river Miljacka’’.
‘’The aim is to make the Colony a tradition in Sarajevo, so it connects artists from different areas and different traditions, and works that are made during the Colony will enrich the Bosniak Cultural Society ‘Preporod’ and its gallery,’’ said painter Baljić.
Honorary participants of the Colony are Affan Ramić and Jusuf Nikšić.
Participants of the Colony from BiH are Dževdet Nikočeić, Ćazim Hadžimejlić, Edin Numankadić, Mensura Jahić, Merima Ivković, Mustafa Skopljak, Hamzalija Muhić, Ira Skopljak, Amra Kozić, Mersiha Merdžanović, Suvada Šaćiragić, Avdo Žiga, Damir Avdić and Mirsada Baljić.
Participants from Turkey are Orhan Cebrailoglu, Ziyad Sultanov and Teymur Agalioglu, from Hungary Zalan Kertan, from Finland Amir Khatib, from Macedonia Nevzat Kica Bejtuli, from Kosovo Ethem Baymak, from Germany Gabriele Schaffartzik, from Sweden Ali Najar, from Great Britain Gwen Jones.
Works made during the Colony will be displayed in Gazi Husrev-bey’s hanikah as of October 14.
Artists will visit Mostar, Konjic, Balagaj, Počitelj and Bijambare.
