After yesterday’s draw for the qualifiers for the World Cup 2018 in Russia, the coach of the National football team of B&H, Mehmed Baždarević told that he is satisfied with the group where the team of B&H ended up.
“I am satisfied with the group in which B&H ended up, even though I was wishing some new selections. However, we have to be satisfied with this group. This group is good. We have to find our chance in this group. If we cannot defeat these teams, then we should not be going to the World Cup at the first place, “said Baždarević.
He emphasized that the national team of Belgium is favorite, but that B&H can fight for direct qualification to the World Cup in Russia.
“Belgium is definitely the favorite in our group because they have a good team, but we can fight for the first place in this group too. We should not be unhappy, not at all,” said the coach.
Yesterday’s draw, which was held in St. Petersburg, in the Constantine’s Palace, decided that the national football team of B&H will play in the qualifying group H together with the teams of Belgium, Greece, Estonia and Cyprus.
European teams are classified into nine groups whose winners will eventually get a direct placement on the World Cup, while eight runner-ups selections will perform on the playoffs. The weakest runner-up will fall off.
Qualifiers for the national team in Europe will start on the 4th of September 2016, and the last match will be played on the 10th of October 2017.
