Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Denis Becirovic, met with the newly appointed commander of the EUFOR in BiH, Major General Florin-Marian Barbu. They discussed the security situation in BiH, as well as the extremely important role of EUFOR in maintaining peace and stability in our country.

Becirovic emphasized to the EUFOR commander the importance of EUFOR effectively and decisively carrying out its mission in BiH. The fundamental tasks of EUFOR are to preserve BiH’s independence, sovereignty, and state borders, as well as to provide continuous support to the high representative of the international community in BiH. EUFOR has a full mandate to take all necessary steps to prevent violations of the Dayton Peace Agreement and the constitutional order of BiH, the Cabinet of the BiH Presidency member Denis Becirovic stated.

Becirovic pointed out that EUFOR, NATO, and the state institutions of BiH must maintain intensive communication and use all available means to safeguard peace, security, and the state of BiH. He also warned that the adventurist, anti-Dayton actions of the leadership of the Republika Srpska (RS) entity must not be underestimated.

Major General Florin-Marian Barbu stated that EUFOR, in accordance with its mandate, will continue to provide full support for peace, stability, and security throughout the entire territory of BiH. He said that one of EUFOR’s goals is to ensure a peaceful and stable BiH.

Becirovic stressed that the institutions of BiH, with the support of international partners, will continue working on protecting the constitutional order, ensuring the security of all citizens, and strengthening democratic values. Among other things, Becirovic stated that full membership of BiH in the European Union (EU) and NATO is the best framework for lasting security and stability in BiH, as well as in the region.

Becirovic wished the new EUFOR commander a successful mandate in his mission in BiH and expressed readiness for continued quality cooperation with EUFOR, the Cabinet of Becirovic stated.
