Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Denis Becirovic, spoke with the head of the Delegation of the European Union (EU) in BiH, Luigi Soreca, and during the conversation, they emphasized the importance of adopting the Reform Agenda for the Growth Plan for BiH, as an important step forward on the country’s European path.

During the conversation, the commitment to strengthening the BiH-EU partnership was emphasized, as well as the importance of implementing reforms in the country on the path towards the EU. Ahead of the visit of the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, to BiH, the need for concrete steps in the implementation of key priorities from the Opinion of the European Commission was additionally highlighted.

It was emphasized that the visit comes at an important moment for BiH and represents an opportunity to confirm the European perspective of our country.

Speaking about the current political and security situation, Becirovic stressed that membership in the EU and NATO is precisely the best framework for strengthening security and stability in BiH and the region. He said that holding a referendum in Republika Srpska (RS) would represent a challenge to the decisions of state institutions, and that such unconstitutional activities would have extremely negative effects on the overall situation in BiH.

Head of the EU Delegation in BiH Luigi Soreca emphasized that the EU remains a reliable partner to the country in this process, ready to provide financial and technical support for its implementation.

He said that the next step is the analysis of the Reform Agenda by the European Commission, in order to verify its alignment with EU standards. In this regard, he added that, in the case of a positive decision by the Commission and member states, BiH will qualify to withdraw 976.6 million euros within the Growth Plan, with the obligation to implement reforms.

There was discussion about the priority areas covered by the Reform Agenda – green and digital transition, development of the private sector and business environment, development and retention of human capital, and the rule of law.

The member of the BiH Presidency emphasized that the EU perspective is key for peace, prosperity, and a better future for the citizens of BiH, it was announced from the office of Denis Becirovic.
