Bevanda: BiH can exist without Increase of Excises on Fuel

bevandaAfter the Commission for Finance and Budget and the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH rejected the increase in excise duties on fuel, the Minister of Finance and Treasury of BiH Vjekoslav Bevanda stated that BiH can do without anything, including the set of laws on excise duties.

Bevanda said that this carries the risk of non-effectiveness of the loan for the construction of highways and no arrangement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), for what he considers to be harmful.

“Everyone has come with its own political views and statements to the Commission,” said Bevanda.

Asked whether there is any indication for a new attempt, Bevanda stated that the Council of Ministers of BiH should give their opinion on that topic. He recalled that the set of laws on the increase of excise duties is nothing new because it has been discussed since the last year.

He noted that the lack of funds from the IMF represents an obstacle to the Government of FBiH and the Government of the RS in the process of managing the budget.

“We came to the phase where the political options were shown and where no one cared about the actual data and what was presented,” concluded Bevanda.

At yesterday’s session of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH was adopted the Draft Law on the Agency for Deposit Insurance of BiH.
