Last year, BiH achieved a surplus of 62.3 million BAM in the foreign trade with the Persian Gulf countries.

According to the data from the Foreign Trade Chamber, we exported goods in the total amount of 75.7 million BAM to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman, while we imported 13.4 million BAM worth goods from this region. This means that we placed 5.5 times more products on this market than we imported from the Persian Gulf to BiH.

From the Foreign Trade Chamber stated that we record the most significant trade with Saudi Arabia – 49 million BAM and the UAE – 37 million BAM.

“The structure of export in Saudi Arabia shows a leading share of the military industry products, as well as a significant increase in the export of some food products, such as cakes, biscuits and other bakery products. Export of the above-mentioned food products was increased from 3.5 million in 2015 to 6.3 million BAM in the year of 2016. We mostly import chemical products and dates from Saudi Arabia. This country is our leading foreign trade partner among the countries of the Persian Gulf, with which we record the largest trade surplus – 46 million BAM,” says Tarik Kovac, from the Agency for Promotion of Exports from BiH at the Foreign Trade Chamber.

When it comes to UAE, we mostly export wood and scents, while we mostly import aluminum and coffee.

The analysis shows that last year to Oman was exported 770 BAM of milk, while 1, 1 million BAM of dairy products were exported to Kuwait.
