poolOn the first day of the competition, representatives of B&H in swimming at the European Games in Baku have not managed to qualify in the semifinals.

However, 18-year-old Adi Mesetovic has the reasons for satisfaction. He broke junior and senior B&H record with time 25.10 seconds in the race 50 meters of butterfly. Previously, the best time had Ensar Hajder (25.14).

“I’m very happy for breaking down the record, but at the same time very sad for the semi-finals. I was ranked as the 21st, and 16 swimmers qualified for the semifinals. In Baku, the borders were definitely moved and this was the strongest competition ever in which I have participated. It will be a great experience for the upcoming world championship in Singapore, “said Mesetovic.

Maid Sukanovic performed in the same discipline as well, and was ranked as 51st with the time of 25.98 seconds.

Lamija Medošević performed as well, in the race 100 m of freestyle and 200 m of backstroke. In the first race, she took 55th place (time – 1: 00.19 minutes), and in the other she was 32nd with a time of 2: 29.59 minutes.

Mesetovic and Sukanovic will perform today again in the race 100 m of freestyle, and Medosevic in the race of 400 m of freestyle.
