“B&H is now getting very close to start exporting milk and dairy products to the EU. On Friday, the 19th of June 2015, the EU Food and Veterinary Office (FVO) informed the Veterinary Office of B&H that all proceedings that B&H has submitted in the Action Plan to control the production and processing of dairy products intended for export to the EU market, are considered satisfying regarding all recommendations of FVO, “as announced from the EU Delegation to B&H.
“The European Commission commend B&H for the determination and adopting of the Action Plan, and expects all aspects of the Action Plan to be fully implemented in a coordinated manner, and without further delay by state and entity administrations across the whole country. Revision of FVO for verification of the full implementation of the Action Plan is scheduled for 2016,” as said in the statement.
B&H has been already included on the list of countries which meet the requirements for exporting heat-treated milk and dairy products in the EU. However, before the export begin, B&H must submit a list of production facilities that were evaluated as coordinated and suggested for export in the EU to the European Commission. Once the Commission approves this list, B&H will start exporting milk and dairy products from those facilities to the European Union.
Although this represents a very positive shift in the trading relations between B&H and the EU, the European Commission also recalls the need to focus now on the adjustments to the trade part of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) due to the accession of Croatia to the EU.
