Outgoing US President Joe Biden will have another audience with Pope Francis just before his term ends in January, Italian media reported.
The meeting will take place at the Vatican in early January, the daily La Repubblica reported on Thursday, citing church sources. There was no official confirmation at first.
Biden and Francis last met in June at the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Puglia, southern Italy.
The US president is a devout Catholic. The pope last received him in October 2021.
Biden’s successor Donald Trump will be sworn in at the White House on January 20. Biden could also stop by other capitals on his farewell trip to Europe.
Pope Francis is the spiritual leader of the world’s 1.4 billion Catholics and the head of state of the Vatican.
