The BiH Border Police issued a statement stating that they have formed a case on how Milorad Dodik crossed the border, i.e. flew from Banja Luka on August 21, 2025.

“The BiH Border Police is checking all allegations and available facts related to this event, in order to determine the factual situation and true information. On this occasion, we inform the public that in accordance with Article 27 of the Rulebook on the manner of performing border checks and entering data into travel documents (Official Gazette of BiH, No. 103/14 and 84/16), it is prescribed to submit a notification for the crossing of the state border of a VIP person to the BiH Border Police through diplomatic channels or through the protocol of the competent BiH authority, which is also the only condition for the priority crossing of the state border of a certain person, therefore the treatment of the BiH Border Police towards a certain person depends on the content of the aforementioned notification,” the statement states.

At the same time, it was ordered that the Sector for Professional Standards and Internal Control of the Border Police of BiH form a case and conduct preliminary checks regarding the actions of the police officers of the Border Police of BiH in the aforementioned case.

They emphasize that the Border Police of BiH operates on the basis of legal and subordinate regulations and remains persistent in protecting the state border.

“Police officers of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina, when performing border checks on persons, act in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Border Control and the provisions of the Rulebook on the manner of performing border checks and entering data into travel documents, during which they are, among other things, authorized to perform checks in search and other records, which also applies to records kept by other competent authorities,” it was emphasized.

They further state that data from official records kept by the BiH Border Police, based on the Law on Border Control, may be used exclusively for the purposes prescribed in Article 2 of the aforementioned law, namely to ensure the inviolability of the state border, protect the life and health of people, prevent and detect criminal acts and misdemeanors, and detect and track down their perpetrators, prevent illegal cross-border migration and prevent and detect other threats to public safety, legal order and national security.

In all cases of crossing the state border, the BiH Border Police acts in accordance with its jurisdiction and in accordance with the measures ordered by the competent authorities.

Finally, they add that the media should first ask them for information if they deal with the work of the BiH Border Police.
