As the only representatives of BiH, members of the Kickboxing Club Panter from Sarajevo Merima Bašić and Adnan Halilović won medals at the World Diamond Kickboxing Cup held in Russia. Bašić won golden medal and Halilović won bronze.
More than 1.000 competitors from 50 countries of the world participated in this competition. Along with the Russian competitors, Bašić and Halilović were the only representatives from Europe. They were trained by Redžep Halilović.
Merima Bašić won the golden medal in the category up to 60 kilograms and the special Diamond award by winning against the Russian Olga Kochetova in the finals, thus interrupting her series of three consecutive titles. This match was included among the 15 best matches of the championship.
Halilović won the third place after winning in the quarterfinals against the Russian representative Nikolai Goncharov. He did not manage to defeat the second representative of Russia Vladislav Revucki in the semifinals.
Next challenge for the BiH representatives is the European Championship, which will be held from October 22 until October 29 in Maribor, Slovenia.
