BiH Delegation held Meeting with DG for Migration in the Austrian Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs

Director of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs Žarko Laketa and Deputy Director Mirsad Buzar held a meeting in Vienna with the Director General of the Directorate for Migration in the Austrian Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs, Peter Webinger.

Laketa and Buzar thanked the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Austria for their support to BiH in strengthening its capacity for efficient migration management.

Laketa informed Webinger about the current migrant situation and how and in what way the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs contributes to the process of deportation of illegal migrants from Bosnia and Herzegovina to their countries of origin.

They discussed the continuation of cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Austria and the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs on the return of illegal migrants and the prevention of smuggling and human trafficking, and significant support for BiH in the fight against illegal migration is also provided by the Joint Coordination Platform (JCP).

Officials of the Ministry of the Interior of Austria congratulated the representatives of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs on the successful implementation of the forced return of illegal migrants to Pakistan, Morocco and Bangladesh, the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs announced.
