BiH to finally get the Law on Foreign Affairs?

zvizdic (1)BiH is one of the few countries, if not the only one in the world, which has no law on foreign affairs, which is a big brake in its foreign policy activities.

Because of this, Mirsad Isakovic, MP of SBB asked the question:

“When can we expect the adoption of the Law on Foreign Affairs? We are the only country that does not have it. In the audit reports, which were conducted from 2013 to 2015, were sent objections on the absence of this law. My question is addressed to the Presidency of BiH and the Council of Ministers of BiH,” said Isakovic today at the session of the Parliamentary Assembly.

Prime Minister Denis Zvizdic said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working without this law for many years, which represents a major obstacle in its work.

“State auditors warned about this, special attention was drawn to the adoption of this law. In 2015, there were no new activities around the process of adopting this law, while in 2013 was sent a proposal to the Presidency of BiH that was supposed to submit their comments, but there was no further activity. The fact is that we are the only country in the region without this law and we should keep that in mind,” said Zvizdic.

Prime Minister noted that BiH has 44 embassies, 6 consulates and 6 permanent missions and that there is a need for adoption of this law.

“We cannot accurately talk about the exact date of adoption of this law, and this will be affected by two factors. The first will depend on the dynamics of the Working Group, and the other is political, but I think that we should get this law no later than March next year,” added Zvizdic.
