BiH Football Team has suffered a Heavy Defeat in Qualification for Euro

The football team of Bosnia and Herzegovina suffered a heavy defeat in the eighth round of qualification for Euro 2024 against Portugal, it was 5:0 for our opponents today.

With the defeat at the Bilino polje stadium, the Dragons’ last hopes of a direct qualification to the European Championship were extinguished, and we are left with the hope that we will do it through the playoffs.

The Portuguese took the lead already in the fifth minute of the match when Cristiano Ronaldo put the guests in the lead from the penalty spot. Previously, Joao Felix shot, and the ball hit Adrian Leon Barišić in the hand, so that the main referee of the match, Halil Umut Meler, pointed to the penalty spot.

Already in the 17th minute of the match, the Portuguese could double their lead. Joao Felix employed Dalot, who crossed into the middle, and Bruno Fernandes shot wide of Sehić’s goal. Three minutes later another goal for Portugal. Joao Felix brilliantly went past our defense, lined up several of our national team players and then Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored for the second time today.

In the 25th minute of the match, the scoreboard at the Bilino polje stadium showed the score 3:0 in favor of Portugal, and after two goals from Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes also entered the list of scorers. Ibrahim Šehić once again capitulated in the 33rd minute of the match, and this time he was defeated by Joao Cancelo, who hit the net of our representative goalkeeper with a masterful shot.

It was played in the 41st minute of the match when the Portuguese scored the fifth goal of the match, and Joao Felix entered the list of scorers, who thus set the final score of the first half.

There were absolutely no thrills in the sequel. The Portuguese selection kept the advantage gained from the first half with a safe game, and our Dragons tried to reduce their advantage, but they did not succeed in that, and in the end Portugal won with a score of 5:0.

This equaled our heaviest defeat in history, since on May 5, 1998, in a friendly match in Córdoba, we were defeated by the Argentine team with the same result.

This was Portugal’s eighth victory in as many matches, while we recorded our fifth defeat with three matches in which we celebrated, Klix.ba reports.
