The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, spoke today with the Minister of Tourism of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Fund for Development, Ahmed Aqeel Al-Khateeb.

The interlocutors assessed that Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have good and friendly relations and expressed the hope that bilateral cooperation between the two countries will continue to develop for mutual benefit.

Minister Konaković expressed his gratitude for the help and support that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has provided to Bosnia and Herzegovina all these years, stressing the need to improve economic cooperation. He especially thanked for the support of the project of building and equipping the Library of the University of Sarajevo.

Minister Al-Khateeb expressed his satisfaction after the adoption of the decision of the BiH Council of Ministers on the temporary cancellation of the visa regime for citizens of Saudi Arabia. He emphasized that the citizens of Saudi Arabia show an increasing interest in visiting BiH, which is rich in natural resources, but also in historical and cultural sights.

He introduced Minister Konaković to KSA’s candidacy for the organization of the world exhibition Expo 2030 and, in this regard, expressed hope for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s support for this candidacy.

At the meeting, opinions were exchanged on development projects related to the strengthening of tourism capacities in BiH, creating the best possible conditions for investments, as well as opportunities for cooperation in the areas of infrastructure and dedicated industry.

They also discussed BiH’s path to the EU, reform processes, the departure of young people from our country, and the possibility of canceling visas for holders of diplomatic and official passports of BiH for trips to KSA, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH announced.
