Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Elmedin Konaković met on Saturday with the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State and Special Envoy for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar on the sidelines of a two-day international conference Dubrovnik Forum 2023.

The two officials discussed the current political situation in BiH, our country’s path to the EU and regional cooperation.

On that occasion, Minister Konaković emphasized the importance of increased focus and interest of the American administration towards the countries of the Western Balkans.

He expressed his gratitude to the US for its continuous support to the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the implementation of reforms on the way to Euro-Atlantic integration, especially when it comes to the fight against corruption and the rule of law.

He added that Bosnia and Herzegovina expects the US to continue to play a proactive role in these processes, which are key to the functionality and stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Special Envoy Escobar emphasized the strong support of the US administration for the continuation of the accession process of the countries of the Western Balkans to the EU.

He reiterated that the United States is committed to preserving the stability, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina and emphasized that the extraordinary circumstances in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the region and Europe require and justify a stronger engagement of the US in overcoming current obstacles and accelerating the necessary reforms in the process of Euro-Atlantic integration, stated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
