BiH Foreign Minister: There are no Threats due to the Arrival of Evacuees from Gaza

The Crisis Staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina made security checks in advance for the majority of Palestinians, relatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s citizens from Gaza, who were granted entry into Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Intelligence and Security Agency and other security agencies have done their part today and we can say that the checks have established that there are no security threats for BiH, said BiH Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmedin Konaković, who was a guest on BHRT’s BHT1 live show.

He pointed out that this story was realized very professionally and humanely.

“We are all very happy, we can say that we are relieved and that we welcomed those people to Sarajevo with pleasure and with a lot of emotions,” emphasized Konaković.

As he said, he will not give up and does not consider this procedure completed, while all BiH citizens and their relatives from Gaza do not come to BiH.

He stated that the decision of the Council of Ministers to allow the entry of the mentioned persons into our country is valid for 30 days, but that a decision can also be made to issue humanitarian visas.

“We don’t have exact data on how many people are left, today we had 26, 11 more are arriving tonight. We have information that there are a few more, but I can’t say what the exact number is. I think there are much fewer left than came out.” added Konakovic.

He emphasized that the Salakovac refugee center near Mostar provides accommodation for those who have nowhere to stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“Psychological help is planned, we will help economically and humanly as much as necessary,” he said.

He also referred to the visit of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to Bosnia and Herzegovina, pointing out that he considers it one of the most important.

“The arrival is a message that the security aspect of the region is on the Alliance’s list of priorities,” said Konaković.

He also commented on the political disagreement on this issue.

“Unfortunately, there is no political will for membership in NATO, but only for cooperation. A new program of reforms is being developed, which is an obligation of BiH, and I hope that at least through it we will strengthen our Armed Forces and that in the future a consensus will be reached on this issue Konaković said.

He also spoke about the upcoming meeting of the parties that make up the ruling coalition at the state level, pointing out that there are many topics that will be discussed.

“The themes of the state coalition will dominate, with HDZ and around the Federal Government, we will also discuss fiscalization… We have many new challenges ahead of us. What is very important, regardless of the fact that we are arguing more often than before, we still continue to talk.” , stressed Konaković.
