The “Maritime Society Adriatic Sea” has been established in BiH, and its members will be working on the establishment of the maritime state of BiH in its full capacity.
“One of the main aims of this society will be the start of initiatives on regulating issues that refer to international law, maritime law, sea and land borders as well as starting other activities that are important for the positioning and functioning of BiH as a maritime state. This will be conducted with legal solutions and strategic and implementation plans,” stated the president of the society, Nesad Alikadic. He also added that this society has some other goals as well, including studies and projects in the field of sea tourism, research of sea world and geological exploration of the sea bottom, the protection of navigation and communication freedom, the construction of port infrastructure etc.
“Why BiH would not have a ferry line, for example the route Neum – Dubrovnik or Neum – Ankona, or towards Rijeka, why would not we have a port in Neum,” stated Alikadic, and added that the Maritime Society Adriatic Sea will initiate these topics before the legislative and executive power of BiH.
The idea for the establishment of the Maritime Society Adriatic Sea was created last summer, after it was proved that the institutions of BiH have a hard time responding to the announcement of Croatia that this country will build the Peljesac Bridge and thus close the free access of BiH to international waterways.
