The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina has today determined and will send to the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina the Proposal for a Decision on the Ratification of the Financing Agreement for the Interreg VI-B Program EURO MEDITERRANEAN (EURO MED) for the period 2021 – 2027 between the European Union, represented by the European Commission, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, represented by the Directorate for European Integration of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Republic of France, represented by the French region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur.

The agreement establishes the conditions for the financing and implementation of the program in BiH, with the financial support of the European Fund for Regional Development and the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA III) and with national co-financing of the program.

The total budget of the program is determined in the amount of 293,624,033 euros, and the total financial contribution of the European Union is 234,899,226 euros, while 58,724,807 euros will be co-financed by the participating countries.

The general objective of the program is the promotion of sustainable growth in the Mediterranean area by encouraging innovative concepts and practices and the reasonable use of resources, through an integrated territorial approach based on cooperation.

The period of execution of this agreement is 15 years from the day when the last party signs it.

The EURO MED program is implemented by Bosnia and Herzegovina, France, Bulgaria, Greece, Spain, Croatia, Italy, Cyprus, Malta, Portugal, Slovenia, Montenegro, Albania and North Macedonia, the VMBiH announced.
