The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) adopted an Analysis of the situation on the milk and dairy product market in BiH for the period 2012-2016, which states that domestic production in the five-year period slightly increased.
Milk and dairy product exports in 2016 increased by 11% compared to exports from the previous year.
With the increase in the purchase of fresh milk, the dairy industry is increasingly working on the production of products of high market value, such as cheeses, sour cream, yoghurt and other fermented products, whose production is continuously increasing.
The loss of the Croatian market in mid-2013 was compensated by an increased presence of milk and dairy products on the domestic market and increasing exports to CEFTA member countries.
At the beginning of 2016, the fulfillment of the conditions for continued export of milk and dairy products to the European market was confirmed and the list of exporters was extended to new dairy companies, which made the most significant progress in the agricultural sector in BiH in the last few years.
The further development of the dairy sector in BiH is very important because competition in the region is growing after the visible recovery of this sector in the Republic of Serbia, which resulted in an increase in milk production and the marketability of dairy products.
Therefore, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations will continue to monitor the situation in this area and report annually to the Council of Ministers of BiH, it was announced from the Council of Ministers.
