Newly appointed FBiH Minister of Displaced Persons and Refugees Nerin Dizdar says that he found an operational situation in the ministry and that there is significant potential for further development and progress.
“I took over the ministry where a former minister showed energy and dedication to the work he was doing,” Dizdar told FENA.
He stated that his vision and of the party he comes from is that the ministry plays a stimulating role, not a humanitarian one.
“Our goal is to ensure a sustainable return, that the returnees have economic and every other type of security,” Dizdar pointed out.
He emphasized the importance of cooperation with Bosnians and Herzegovinans who live outside their country.
“According to UN data, we are the first country in the world in terms of the number of displaced inhabitants, about the total population. We have to develop projects that will enable our citizens from outside BiH to reintegrate in BiH, to invest here,” Dizdar said and added that cooperation with citizens abroad is one of the problems of the BiH government at all levels.
He stated that it is planned to create a program that will enable investment in their native areas in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the support of the ministry.
The Minister said that returnees, refugees and displaced persons are categories of society that deserve special attention.
“One of the first steps that need to be taken is to create a unique database of beneficiaries of services and resources of the Ministry. This measure aims to ensure transparency, balance and effectiveness in the implementation of the Ministry’s measures,” said Dizdar.
He announced that through the internal restructuring of the Ministry, free legal assistance will be provided to returnees throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“All returnees will have the opportunity and the right to use free legal aid services related to legal issues concerning their returnee status and the protection of the fundamental rights of returnees,” stated Dizdar.
The Minister also spoke about young people, stating that there are many successful returnee stories and that the Ministry wants to encourage young people to start businesses.
“We want to do this through our support so they can successfully run companies in Banja Luka, Srebrenica, Doboj, Glamoč or any other part of our homeland. I am aware that through the Ministry’s public calls, people most often ask and get support in agriculture, but also in the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, and this is a great chance for people who want to run their enterprise,” he pointed out.
