The Minister of Transport and Communications of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) spoke yesterday after a meeting with his colleagues from the Government of Croatia about the new agreements that will be signed and the activation of railway traffic with Ploce and Zagreb.

He confirmed that on July 5th, in Brcko, agreements will be signed with Croatia on the reconstruction of the Brcko – Gunja bridge, and several matters related to transport, especially the port of Brcko and the highway Orasje – Brcko, will be discussed.

Minister Forto particularly emphasized that the plan is to re-establish regular rail passenger traffic with Ploce and Zagreb.

“Cargo traffic is more profitable, but passenger traffic is not. The state must want it and, of course, subsidize it. I presented the initiative to make those passenger lines happen.”

They also talked about speeding up control at railway border crossings.

“There was also talk of speeding up the border processing on the railway corridor. That the control takes place practically during the movement of the train, that is what is standard, and we don’t have it”.

”In order to raise the level of used railways and to have a new momentum of investments in railway transport, we need to be active on the VC railway corridor, ” Minister Forto told.
