cheese2Tatomir Jovicic, Sarajevan, who has a successful business in Switzerland, three years ago decided to open new business in a village located near the Tara Canyon, about 10 kilometers from Foca.

Together with friend from Belgrade, Peter Džokić, set out to build a farm of cows and cheese production by the Swiss-old recipe that is 200 years old.

According to Mr. Dzokic, the first annual production of “Golden Cheese” were sold in record time.

“Most visitors come to Tara just for rafting and stay here two or three days. Besides rafting, we want to expand the offer and to organize tastings of our cheese and a variety of wines. We have introduced the possibility of horseback riding and visiting the canyon, adds Dzokic.

In addition to the farm, there is a central facility for tourists and bungalows offering a view of the beautiful canyon, which is the second largest in the world. The place is located at 1200 meters above sea level. Tourists are enthusiastic and constantly get new visitors on the basis of the recommendations of satisfied guests.

To recall, the “Golden Cheese” has recently won second prize in the Balkan Festival of cheese, being in the competition among 100 native species of cheese from the Balkans and the Mediterranean.
