Bosnia and Herzegovina’s (BiH’s) Indirect Taxation Authority (ITA) seized a record amount of tobacco, cigarettes and confectionery products on Thursday in an area around Tuzla, a city about 120 km northeast of the capital.

During the several months long operation together with BiH Border Police, goods in the amount of 54,000 KM (31,350 U.S. dollars) were seized, ITA press statement reads.

During the raid, 255 kg of finely cut tobacco without excise stamps and 1,180 boxes of cigarettes not properly marked with excise stamps were found.

On the same day, in the joint operation with BiH Border Police code-named “Kontraband 2019”, ITA members have temporarily seized a record amount of 4,998 pieces of confectionery products from a person who did not possess the needed documentation, Xinhua reports.
