BiH’s Presidency Chairman met with Sergey Lavrov

Bosnia and Herzegovina’s (BiH’s) Presidency Chairman Milorad Dodik met today in St. Petersburg with Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

Dodik informed Lavrov that the situation in the Republika Srpska is politically stable, but that the problem is that BiH’s government has not yet been formed.

Lavrov thanked for a reception in Banja Luka last year and asked Dodik to inform him about the situation in BiH, reports RTRS.

Although Dodik announced that he would talk to Lavrov about the project “Turkish Stream”, that is, about the separation of the gas pipeline to Republika Srpska, there was no talk about it, or nothing was said about it, KLix.ba news portal reports.

Earlier, it was stated that RS is determined to build a section of the TurkStream pipeline on its territory, Serb Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik said following the meeting with Russian Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Pyotr Ivantsev on Wednesday.

“Russia is working actively in Republika Srpska, we would like to expand this. The key issue, which we will address in the future, is the construction of the gas pipeline section to be connected to TurkStream. I believe it is important that this topic be discussed in Sarajevo, in the Federation, to strengthen the gas supply across Bosnia and Herzegovina. We want to construct the pipeline from Bijeljina to Banja Luka, this will be one of the topics for discussion in St. Petersburg,” he said in an interview with the national RTRS TV channel, TASS reports.
