Johns Hopkins University has published statistics which represent that Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) ranks 11th out of 175 countries of the world when it comes to mortality from Covid-19 disease. This is the number of deaths per 100.000 inhabitants.

Since the beginning of the pandemic (in March 2020), 137.291 people infected with coronavirus have been recorded in BiH, of which 5.297 have died as a result of Covid-19 disease.

According to the data by Johns Hopkins, 159 people per 100.000 inhabitants in our country passed away.

The mortality rate from coronavirus in BiH is 3.9 percent, which is the ratio of infected patients to deaths, according to this statistic.

San Marino is at the very top of this list (with 224 deaths per 100.000 inhabitants), followed by the Czech Republic (205), Belgium (195), Slovenia (188), Great Britain (187), Montenegro (174), Italy (165), Hungary (161), Portugal (161), and the United States of America – USA (160).

As for our neighbors, Croatia is in 21st place with 137 deaths per 100.000 inhabitants, while Serbia is in 54th place with 65.

It is important to mention that almost all of these countries have already started immunizing their population or plan to do so in the next few days, unlike BiH. However, the vaccines arrived in Republika Srpska (RS) – 40.000 doses of Sputnik V, while the Federation of BiH (FBiH) got only a small number of donated doses, Klix.ba writes.
