Bosnia records 70 Percent Drop in Tourists’ Arrivals

In November 2020 tourists realised 29,176 tourist arrivals in Bosnia and Hercegovina which represent the decrease by 33.3% as compared to October 2020 and decrease by 69.7% as compared to November 2019. Tourists realised 64,051 overnigh stays which represent the decrease by 38.1% as compared to October 2020 and decrease by 66.4% as compared to November 2019. Domestic tourists share of total number of overnight stays was 66.0% and foreign tourists share was 34.0%.

The number of domestic tourist overnight stays decreased by 40.5% as compared to October 2020 and decreased by 40.9% as compared to November 2019. Foreign tourist overnight stays decreased by 32.8% as compared to October 2020 and decreased by 81.7% as compared to November 2019.

Concerning the structure of foreign overnight stays in November 2020, the most of them (64.3%) were realised by tourists from: United Arab Emirates (19.6%), Serbia (18.2%), Croatia (14.9%), Turkey (4.8%), Italy (3.6%), and Kuwait (3.2%) . Tourists from other countries realised 35.7% of overnight stays.

Regarding the average stay of foreign tourist stays in our country on the first place comes: Jawith with an average stay by 15,0 nights, Brazil with 7.6 nights, Finland with 7.4 nights, Latvia and Estonia by with 6.5 nights and Greece with 6.0 nights.

Available rooms, apartments and camping sites for tourists in Bosnia and Herzegovina in November 2020 amounted to 14,769 which is 23.3% decrease compared to November 2019. Number of available beds was 31,542 beds, which is decrease by 23.3%, compared to the same month of 2019.

In November 2020, in the activity – Hotels and similar accommodation, number of rooms and apartments available to tourists amounted to 13,610, which is an decrease of 21.4% compared to November 2019., and number of available beds amounted to 27,949 which is an decrease of 21,9%, compared to the same month of the previous year.

Net occupancy rate of permanent beds in November 2020 was 7.2%.

According to the type of accommodation facility, the highest number of nights was recorded in hotels and similar accommodation with a share of 93.2%.
