Dragan Čović, President of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), today made serious accusations against Zdenko Lučić, the candidate for the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina from the Croat community, calling him “a smuggler, opportunist, war profiteer, and criminal.”
Čović made this statement following the commemoration of the Day of HVIDRA Mostar (Croatian Homeland War Disabled Veterans).
“War crimes never expire, that is my message to all,” said HDZ BiH President Dragan Čović, responding to questions about statements made by the Five for the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina candidate, Zdenko Lučić, Bljesak reports.
Čović stated that he and his party act solely for their people and that he is proud of every day of his life.
“Of course, we will not allow anyone, especially not a smuggler, opportunist, war profiteer, and criminal, to comment on the values of the Homeland War or the values we have built. We showed those people the exit from HDZ BiH long ago,” Čović said, recalling the party’s convention in 1998.
Čović did not stop there.
“Now someone has remembered, because of an order from Sarajevo, that they have to settle some obligations again,” he said, adding that it will not be allowed for “former UDBA, KOS, and AID agents to speculate in this area again.”
“They remembered after 30 years to do something again. We will not allow that,” Čović said.
The Five candidate, Zdenko Lučić, has openly attacked the leader of HDZ BiH in recent statements, accusing him of his role at the beginning of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, claiming he is not a Croat, and that he destroyed HDZ BiH.
“I have information that Dragan Čović became a Croat at the exact moment a certain number of passports went missing from the Consulate of the Republic of Croatia. To prove me wrong, he should come forward with his Croatian certificate of citizenship and state when he received it and from whom,” Lučić claims.
Since the confirmation of his candidacy, he has publicly stated that Dragan Čović has privatized HDZ BiH and is using the Croat people in Bosnia and Herzegovina for personal gain, Klix.ba writes.
