photo 2British Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina H.E. Edward Ferguson visited the offices of Alfa Energy Group in Sarajevo today.

Since its establishment in 1995, Alfa Energy Group has emerged as a global energy consultancy, with procurement capability across European markets and the deregulated areas of North America with 4 international offices, over 90 employees and over 4,000 clients, and a responsibility for over £1 billion of annual spend on energy. Alfa Energy Group provides a wide range of services to its clients which are designed to help them buy energy effectively in order to maximise profitability. In 2008 Alfa Energy Group set up a trading operation in Sarajevo and has since been a valuable member of the British Business Club in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Alfa Energy’s overall plan is to continue to grow internationally while maintaining the hub central in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Currently, the Sarajevo office employs over 50 people with the investment to date estimated at 2 million BAM per year. In five years, the company plans to increase investment to 5 million BAM per year.

“We chose Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to achieve international growth, provide a hub for the company’s international offices, and, in a homage to our roots, help the economy and community by providing employment to the country’s young people”, says Damir Ahmovic, Partner and CEO of Alfa Energy Group.

“I am delighted to visit the Alfa Energy Group’s offices in Sarajevo, to meet the team and to hear about the impressive way in which the company’s operations have developed over the last six years.  Their expertise is already of real value in helping businesses to keep their energy costs low, and the impending liberalisation of the electricity market in Bosnia and Herzegovina will offer important new opportunities to their clients. Their experience highlights that despite the market barriers that we hear about every day, it is still possible to run a successful operation in this market – and for companies like this to help others to do so” said Ambassador Ferguson after the visit.”
