Building of Factory that Would Produce Biofuel from Garbage

srebrenka-golic-(7)An investor from Slovenia expressed interest for the building of a factory for processing garbage that would collect waste without charge and process it into biofuel, said the mayors of seven municipalities in Herzegovina during a meeting with the Minister of Physical Planning, Civil Engineering and Ecology of the RS Srebrenka Golić.

The mayors decided to present joint interest of the municipalities in the domain of this ministry such as resolving the problem of regional landfill and increase fees for the use of natural resources from this area.

As for the construction of the factory Golićeva, it was said that it was requested to carry out certain procedures and changes to the legal framework.

“Municipalities will commit to provide land and infrastructure in one locality, where at the base of the public-private partnership place the factory that would not have a classic separation of municipal waste, but rather only the separation of solid construction waste. The processing of this waste would be performed and the by-product would be an energy source that could be sold on the market’’, concluded Golićeva.

This kind of cooperation is the path towards resolving mutual problems, and was agreed upon by the mayors of the municipalities. However, garbage disposal is not the only problem of these municipalities, thinks Mayor of Višegrad Slaviša Mišković.

“Only together can we get out of a complex situation in which we find ourselves. We will present ourselves to the RS institutions without politics involved in order to solve problems, but the RS government should behave the same. For our region what is especially interesting are fees for the use of natural resources for the production of electricity and exploitation of forests where we fear that these legal regulations would damage the budgets of municipalities’’, said Mišković and reported by Radio Foča.

The Mayor of Foča Radisav Mašić thinks that this is a positive innovation in the works of the municipalities of Old Herzegovina.

“When we have some current topics, we want to present them to the government of the RS, for RS representatives to come in one place and for mayors that are interested in these problems speak about it. This meeting is a first example of this and we spoke about problems from the area of construction and urbanism, regional landfills and the removal of illegal and existing landfills. We agreed with the proposal for the construction of a factory for processing garbage that would be located on the area of Foča municipality and which would be economically viable for all these municipalities. The study that would be done has to also show it’’, concluded Mašić.
