nju-delhiThe Ambassador of BiH to India Sead Avdić was awarded a recognition called “Rajiv Gandhi Global Excellence Award” at a ceremony held in India Habitat Center in New Delhi.

At this year’s ceremony, the Ambassador was the only Ambassador and foreigner who won the recognition that was given out to prominent figures from the political, economic, cultural and public life of India.

Regarding the reason for the award, Ambassador Avdić pointed out the dynamic development of the political process in BIH and India, particularly through the exchange of visits of high-ranking government officials of the two countries, and especially the visits of the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH Zlatko Lagumdžija to India.

Among the reasons for the award were the meetings of the Joint Committee for the implementation of a trade agreement between the two countries, establishing cooperation of the economic chambers of the two countries, organizing the promotion of the BiH economy, establishing cooperation of the Universities of Sarajevo and Tuzla with the Indraprastha University in New Delhi, establishing cooperation of the American University in BiH and the Amity University in New Delhi, as well as the establishment of the Indo-BiH Cultural Association (IB&HCA) and concerts of BIH artists in Calcutta.

The award bears the name of Rajiv Gandhi, the youngest Prime Minister of India in history, which is credited for the introduction and development of computer technology in India and directing the country towards IT technologies and software engineering, as well as high achievements in the development of education and secularism in this country.
