The Minister of Internal Affairs of the Federation of BiH, Aljosa Campara, as a guest on the show Polis on TVSA, said that he thought that certain persons who had anything to do with the bomb reports would be imprisoned soon, ie that the perpetrators had been identified by police forces.
It is difficult to predict such attacks
Campara said that the state from which the attacks were carried out had been identified and that, through international legal assistance and in cooperation with partner agencies, they were working on clarifying the perpetrators themselves.
“Attacks like this are hard to predict. When you look at the analysis back a few years, in 2020 there were about 16 false alarms, then in 2021 slightly less, 7 approximately, and here following the world events in 2021, especially in the last few months, that number climbed to 36. Reports cause anxiety among citizens and the public, and in a way the entire system of education, judiciary, functioning of institutions, but also the work of police agencies is disrupted, because then you have to separate police agencies to do only that part of the job. So that it violates the overall security system,” said Campara.
Provocations
He pointed out that the state must react in a good way in these conditions.
“We have one department within the Federal Ministry of the Interior that deals with Cybercrime, but I think that is not enough for the whole of BiH. In some EU countries, this is with the ministries of defense, but the Ministry of Security can do a lot in this field, especially with certain legal regulations that should apply to the entire country, the minister explained, adding that it is possible that this type of attack will continue.
The Canton Sarajevo Ministry of the Interior should soon form one such department, and as far as I know, the US Embassy is also interested in helping to establish and equip it. It is very important to educate the police and the establishment of these sectors in the cantons, their strengthening in general – education and technical assistance needed to deal with this type of crime – said Campara.
He could not speak about the exact motives of the attack.
“It may be that these are provocations, but it may be that false reports divert attention from the real attack, on, say, the financial system of BiH. It will only be possible to talk about that later,” Campara concluded.
