The Commission for the Preparation of Appointments in the BiH the Council of Ministers considered the eligibility and made recommendations for the confirmation of candidates to perform the duties of ministers and deputy ministers in the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Seven members of the commission voted “for”, two against and one abstained.

The chairman of the Commission for the Preparation of Appointments in the Council of Ministers of BiH, Predrag Kožul, expressed his satisfaction with the fact that the Commission gave a recommendation to the House of Representatives to elect the Council of Ministers of BiH in the composition as proposed by the chairperson Borjana Krišto.

BiH Foreign Minister candidate Elmedin Konaković said that, as far as foreign policy priorities are concerned, there are several important topics, first of all, calming tensions in the region and improving relations with neighbors and Western Balkan countries in general.

He assessed that the priorities of Euro-Atlantic integration, defined by the Foreign Policy Strategy, which was adopted in 2018 and lasts until 2023, are of great importance.

Candidate for the Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zukan Helez said that, if the House of Representatives confirms his appointment, he will strive to work the best he can to improve the status of members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and to speed up the path to the NATO alliance.

The candidate for Minister of Human Rights and Refugees Sevlid Hurtić said that he is ready to work and help people on the ground throughout BiH.

“I plan to stabilize the existing situation, and that includes the financial assistance that goes to people who have returned to their homes,” stated Hurtić.

When asked how to ensure that children in the RS receive certificates in the Bosnian language, he answered that he would first discuss this issue with the minister in the RS Government and will try to solve “this issue that is a constitutional authority and what is written in the Constitution that the Bosnian language is the language of the Bosniaks” with the pedagogical institute.

“If it cannot be resolved at that level, then I would discuss the matter with my colleagues in the Council of Ministers and then address the Prime Minister and the President of the RS,” Hurtić said.

He added that the same should be resolved for “Serb children who study in Drvar, Bosansko Grahovo according to the Croatian curriculum”.
