For the first time, Canton Sarajevo Tourist Board presented the tourism offer at the “Ferien Messe Wien” fair, which is taking place from 10th to 13th January 2019.

It is very important for BiH, as a country, to be presented at the most important and “the strongest” fair in Austria, which is attended by exhibitors from 80 countries, and visited by around 70,000 people from all over the world.

On the first day of the fair, among the numerous visitors, the stand of the Tourist Association of CS was visited by Ambassador of BiH to Austria Kemal Kozaric.

Ambassador Kozaric said that residents of Austria and visitors showed an interest in visiting BiH, but that potential tourists are not sufficiently informed about the tourist offer. He added that this could be changed by opening of tourist agency in Vienna.

Kozaric also stressed that participation in fairs and networking with the region and Europe is indispensable for tourism development.

“BiH and Austria are historically connected, they have similarities in their culture and customs, and are geographically close, and these are just some of the reasons why we need to strengthen the relationship between these two countries. We need to strengthen infrastructure, expand service, and better information about tourist potentials and offerings,” Kozaric concluded.

Visitors mostly expressed their interest for Bjelasnica, architecture and medical tourism.

Lat year, the expo double-pack Ferien-Messe Wien and Vienna Autoshow (11th – 14th January) was almost overrun by 153,224 visitors. This figure showed that roughly 3200 more people visited the event compared to the previous year, setting a new overall visitor record.

Reason enough for Reed Exhibitions CEO Benedikt Binder-Krieglstein to highlight the prominent status Messe Wien enjoys among the ranks of Austria’s trade fair venues:

“During the 4-day show, we welcomed roughly the same number of visitors as there are inhabitants in Salzburg, Austria’s fourth-largest city. For many years now the fascinating content, demonstrations and presentations at the Ferien-Messe Wien and the Vienna Autoshow, have made these events by far the biggest public access shows and the most powerful crowd-pullers at Messe Wien, indeed in the Austrian trade fair segment as a whole.”
