CEC published the List: Who are Candidates for the Local Elections?

electionsThe Central Election Commission of BiH announced a preliminary review of verified candidate lists of political parties and coalitions.

On the basis of the Report on checking the candidates’ lists and candidates of political parties and coalitions that are certified to participate in the local elections in 2016, the Central Election Commission started the process of certifying those candidate lists and candidates who meet the requirements for certification.

2,280 candidate lists with a total of 30,758 candidates were submitted to the Central Election Commission.

Checking has shown that 2,105 candidate lists with a total of 22,889 candidates are valid, and so many of them got certified by the Central Election Commission, while the 175 candidate lists including 7869 candidates were found to contain mistakes and, consequently, the Central Election Commission will inform political subjects whose lists include mistakes to remove those from the lists within 5 days.

Mistakes in the election lists that are not certified are usually that the proposed candidates are not registered voters in the election unit for which they apply as candidates, the same candidates are on more candidates lists, the list includes more candidates than the allowed number, he candidates withdrew from candidacy, the list is not in accordance with Article 19.4 (3) of Election Law of BiH (gender representation on the list) and more.

According to the deadline for the removal of mistakes in the lists of candidates expires on Wednesday, the 20th of July 2016 in 4 pm.
