A ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of the signing of the General Framework Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina will be held at the Sarajevo City Hall on Saturday, 12 December 2020, at 8 PM local time.

The Dayton-Paris Peace Agreement was initialled on 21 November 1995 in Dayton, USA, and signed the same year on 14 December in Paris. The Agreement ended almost four years of bloodshed and destruction in Bosnia and Herzegovina and paved the way for the long and challenging process of recovery and reconciliation. Despite challenges and political disputes, peace reigns in Bosnia and Herzegovina today, which is the most important legacy of the Dayton Peace Agreement.

The ceremony will include live speeches by the High Representative, Valentin Inzko, BiH Foreign Minister Bisera Turković, US Ambassador to BiH Eric Nelson, Deputy Head of Mission Xavier Rouard on behalf of the French Ambassador to BiH Christine Toudic, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to BiH and the EU Special Representative Johann Sattler, and Executive Director of the AGORA Foundation Danijel Petrović, followed by pre-recorded video messages to BiH citizens by more than twenty former and current senior state and international officials, friends of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Aside from the messages, the Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra will perform Mozart’s 25th Symphony.

Due to the current epidemiological situation, the number of guests in attendance is strictly limited. The entire ceremony will be broadcast live on BHT1 and the official BHRT website (www.bhrt.ba), as well as the official website and YouTube channel of the Office of the High Representative (www.ohr.int).
