Chairman of the BiH Presidency speaks on the IMF Loan

mladen ivanicChairman of the BiH Presidency Mladen Ivanic said that BiH’s path to the European Union is tied to economic reforms and that European officials expect a strong continuation of engagement on economic reforms.

“The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini has clearly stated that she expects strong engagement on economic reforms to be continued. This is the only argument they may have in order to offer us candidate status,” said Ivanic and stressed that the government of the entities need to ensure this.

When speaking about the BiH’s arrangement with the IMF, he said that he cannot be positive on this subject and that he does not know if it is still in place, and that the answer on this question should be given by the chairman of the Council of Ministers and prime ministers who have also negotiated this loan.

He personally believes that BiH’s arrangement with the International Monetary Fund “has not yet failed, but is in danger of failing”.
