The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zeljko Komsic, recalled the war crime against the inhabitants of Grabovica, which happened 28 years ago.

“Twenty-six years ago, 33 people were killed in Grabovica. This was done by several members of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, whom every regular Army soldier is still ashamed of. Five of them were sentenced to prison, but it is difficult to satisfy justice when an innocent life is taken “We must not forget the victims of this crime. Rest in peace,” Komsic said.

Former members of the RBiH Army were held accountable before domestic courts in BiH for individual killings, but no one for war crimes against civilians and for command responsibility.

To date, five members of the RBiH Army have been convicted. Mustafa Hota was sentenced to nine years in prison, Enes Šakrak to ten years, while Nihad Vlahovljak, Sead Karagić and Haris Rajkić were sentenced to 13 years in prison each.

For the crime in Grabovica, the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia acquitted the Chief of the General Staff of the Supreme Command of the Army of RBiH, Sefer Halilović.
