Chancellor Nehammer and Minister Cikotic discussed security Cooperation and Migration

The Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Selmo Cikotic met on Thursday night in Sarajevo with the Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer.

This meeting is a continuation of the strengthening of bilateral and regional relations in the field of security and it is related tothe recently held open and very meaningful talks between Minister Cikotic and Chancellor Nehammer in Vienna.

Partnerships and open cooperation between BiH and Austria in the field of security and combating illegal migration were developed during Nehammer’s previous term as Minister of internal affairs. During that period, a memorandum was signed between the Ministry of Security of BiH and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Austria on strengthening cooperation in the fight against illegal migration.

On Thursday, Cikotic and Nehammer also discussed future cooperation in the field of security, including solving the problem of illegal migration. Among other things, they exchanged views on the impact of the war in Ukraine on the Balkan countries and key security challenges for BiH and ourregion, according to the BiH Ministry of Security.
