Political trust between China and Bosnia and Herzegovina is continuously deepening, a message emphasized by the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Li Fan, at a joint meeting with members of the Parliamentary Group for Asia.

The meeting was chaired by the rotating Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina and President of the Parliamentary Group for Asia, Marinko Čavara. Participants reviewed the development of relations between China and Bosnia and Herzegovina to date and discussed future prospects for cooperation.

Ambassador Li noted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. She highlighted that political mutual trust continues to grow, while cooperation in the fields of economy, trade and people-to-people exchanges is steadily improving. From January to October this year, bilateral trade increased by 44.5 percent compared to the same period last year. The Ivovik wind farm project was once again recognized among the “Most Significant Foreign Investors in BiH for 2025,” while cooperation projects in infrastructure and new energy were described as bringing tangible benefits to citizens of both countries.

The Ambassador also stated that the number of Chinese tourists visiting Bosnia and Herzegovina increased by 34 percent year-on-year in the January–October period. She added that both sides are actively working on establishing a direct air route to further facilitate people-to-people exchanges. Plans for the coming year include intensified high-level visits and the expansion of practical cooperation across various sectors, as well as continued collaboration within the Belt and Road Initiative and the China–Central and Eastern Europe cooperation mechanism.

Ambassador Li Fan praised the consistent position of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s authorities on the issue of Taiwan, noting that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH recently reaffirmed, through a diplomatic note, its recognition of the One China policy and United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758. She expressed hope that Bosnia and Herzegovina would continue to respect the one-China principle through concrete actions.

She also presented key messages from the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, emphasizing that China’s Fifteen-Year Plan focuses on high-quality development, a high level of openness, reform and innovation, with the ultimate goal of improving living standards. According to her, this approach will open new opportunities for cooperation between China and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Members of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH expressed firm support for the one-China policy, praised China’s achievements in reform and opening up, and conveyed their interest in visiting China to gain firsthand insight into its modernization process. They underlined that China’s Fifteen-Year Plan could offer important opportunities for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s energy transition, infrastructure development and sustainable economic growth.

Both sides agreed to continue working together to further strengthen China – Bosnia and Herzegovina relations in the coming year, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in BiH announced.
