When asked about their opinion about the referendum that was held in Republika Srpska yesterday, citizens of Belgrade largely showed the lack of interest for political topics.
A survey conducted on the streets of Belgrade showed that majority of the citizens is uninterested in the events that are currently happening and while there are those who have an opinion, there is more of those who do not support the referendum.
„I think the referendum should not be held, that these tensions are unnecessary and that we should move towards peace. That is some kind of presentation of force and the entire world is against it, although they think they will achieve some kind of domination. I think that is not the right path. Eventually, when we access the European Union, we will be one country again. I think that is the way they should think, too,“ said 37-year-old Radomir Nikolić from Belgrade.
„I am kind of sick of that referendum, it has been on all channels for a month. What for? Either organize it or not. Why does it have to be our business? In fact, what can we actually do?,“ said Snežana Sovilj, while Snežana Anđelić said: „If I understand well, that is a referendum on some kind of a holiday, on on secession. It is useless. All that triggering of the people, so common for this area. That should not affect us in the region at all, if people are smart enough to not let that happen. It is all ridiculous to me.“
Many people stated that they are apolitical, that they would rather not express their opinion, that they cannot stand politicians and politics, and there are those who actually do not follow politics at all.
„I do not follow anything, I am avoiding the headache,“ said one 65-yearl-old woman from Belgrade.
