people3It is generally believed that the voice of ordinary citizens is not important and that government representatives rarely ask citizens for opinion.

Therefore, in front of the Sarajevo Cathedral, the Institute for Youth Development KULT, organized the printing and sending postcards to government representatives.

This winter, instead of photographs of exotic destinations, local politicians will receive postcards with messages of their fellow citizens.

Their messages are printed on specially designed postcards with drawings that send a strong message about urgent problems. Moreover, on the plateau in front of the Sarajevo Cathedral, there were mailboxes where citizens could throw printed postcards.

“I was a member of the army and government officials are starting to divide us again,” one of the citizens wrote on the postcard.

“Rude, unfair, inhumane … I am a pensioner, who else can live with 326 BAM per month? There is a madness in this country, only the youth, students and unemployed workers may change this situation” wrote another Sarajevan.

This action is organized with an aim to contribute to solving a systemic problems in the employment sector in BiH, especially the inadequate system of budgetary stimulus programs and active measures to combat unemployment in BiH. Moreover, special emphasis is put on the bad concept of tax collection and high contributions on the worker’s salary, all which hampers investment in the development and creation of new jobs.
